Sorry to hear about your new house Fraser.

My Dad is in court this week against the builder he had to do his house.
The balconies that run around the front of the house - the drains are in the wrong places and water has leaked into the house - this forcing the 2 downstairs bedroom ceilings to collapse. The balconies are to be ripped down and rebuilt not draining towards the house and with sealant. :scared:
The garage roof has big hole on the inside. The house roof is set wrong. The costs of the repairs are around the $50,000 mark. :scared:
What stinks more than anything is that the builder is given more protection than the vendor. He was given time to 'rectify' the situation, however, he did not and there is further damage to the carpets and furnishings. The rooms stink of mould and this house is LESS than 2 YEARS OLD. This began 6 months into buying when the winter arrived and the cracks appeared....

To be honest the concreters work was ok, he just made a mistake and so obviously mixed the bags up.

But wouldn't admit it, what pissed me off was that I worked out that his materials cost no more than $1000 and the concrete to redo the drive was $600 so I offered to pay him $300 extra and meet him half way for a new lot but he said he'd rather rip the back and the front up and lose his money

Not sure if he would have done or not, but when I asked him why he would do that and lose a $1000 rather than do it again a nd lose a days labour and $300 he said it was because I was a whinging pom and would never be happy, yes I would I said if you'd put the f**king colour I picked on . But what if you don't like it he said, so I said well that would be my fault as I'd picked it, but he just wasn't having it.

I'm still glad it's over with even though i'm not overjoyed with the driveway, but as with nearly every facet of this house I had such high hopes and had to just make do.

I know mate i was just trying to get the drive I wanted, I've just had enough of arguing with people and couldn't face starting over with a new concreter as getting people round isn't easy and it was just all mud around the house which was getting trodden all over the place.

Mate how's the football viewing been going, I've seen about 6 games I've spent nearly every night asleep on the couch and missed them, just woke up after missing tonights games

Just to update:
Dad phoned here 5pm our time (night owl) and has said that he ended up with some cr*p solicitor who spent most of the morning trying to get out of staying the day in court and argue Dad's case. I take it that he was either appointed a solicitor or Dad left it til last minute and got a bum one.
Anyway, has now been ajourned until SEPTEMBER !!!!
OMFG the place will have collapsed!! :scared:
Will keep you updated......
J x
Can't believe you stay up and watch the footy
Bet you are asleep for the England ones
