Its arguably the best white wine produced in Australasia. I must admit, after a few bottles in a Melbourne restaurant, it reignited my love affair with good Sav Blanc.

Th Pelorus is worth try but at $30ish a bottle I think is priced too high.

The name escapes me now but there is an SA sparkler at $40ish a bottle which is lovely.

FWIW I think Moet is rubbish!

I'm not a huge lover of Moet, must be said. If I can't have Veuve (and who can, every day? Not me anyway ) I think I may as well go for a local one. I'll spend ~$30 if I get them from cellar doors but, as I said above, quite happy with a JC for supping by the telly. (Either way it lasts me a couple of nights, even three, with a decent stopper in it.)

Careful, there are a bunch of wines produced by the company - such as Dom Perignon - and they can be quite different. Whilst I wouldn't go for the bog standard Moet, don't dismiss the whole lot.

Very true! I should have been more clear - I was referring to "cooking" Moet!

The one I regularly get is less than 20 bucks.... Had a look on the net to try and refresh my memory but couldnt see it. Need a trip to Dan's to find it again... It's always there. So will report back.

We like it and think it is excellent value for money. Costs in the $30's but tastes like something that would cost more.
I wholeheartedly agree - Pelorus was my celebratory Kiwi bubbles of choice when I lived in NZ. I personally thought it easily rivalled MOR French champagnes. More expensive if I recollect, and I didn't find it as good, was another Kiwi option Deutz.

I was wondering the other day if they sold Wolf Blass red label red wine in Australia (I know it's Australian but wasn't sure if it was just an exported wine?).

Love sparklings ... accidentially now really like red sparkles too.

Padthaway Eliza is a very good white.

Karatta Shiraz is a very good red, or Andrew Garratt neither expensive.
