I'm still here too. Drama still follows me around, latest drama involves a Landcruiser landing in my bedroom last weekend. We even made the news Separated from husband and desperately looking for work. Glad to see some of the old faces still around.

They are a dying breed, largely because of Facebook I think.

I thought it was facebook that was dying?

Or maybe it's just that the old fogies have moved into facebook, which means the college age have moving out?

I think its more to do with the fact that far less people are migrating these days. its not as cheap as it once was, and Aus has tightened the rules and raised the fees a lot over recent years. Facebook probably has had a hand in it but even the BE immigration forums are slow these days, nand the info on there isn't easily available on facebook.

My mates and I have moved to Slack for our socialising. It's so much cleaner than Facebook, and is also instantaneous.

It's revolutionised our social lives!

I get the fact the immi forums (which I never visit) are quiet (migrations is not for many now, and I've been saying that for years) but this is the slowest start in the Barbie and the main section to a year for a while, I reckon.

Nice photos on your website, Shaun. My, how Brisbane has changed since I was a young lad at boarding school there in the 1950s! It's a real city, now; it was more of a big bush-town, back then.

Bit late northernbird, have just seen this, but bloody hell!! What a shock that must have been for you - I hope no one was hurt? Except the house I suppose. Is the Landcruiser's driver's insurance covering the repairs?

Re the job, what sort of work are you looking for? Just thought I could keep my ear out - the more ears (and eyes) the better when it comes to job hunting. You can PM me if you'd rather (I'm trying to be discreet, you might be a pole dancer or something) Anyway, I hope life is treating you a bit more kindly than it was a few weeks ago.

Yes, even in the relatively short time I've been a BE member, the number of immi queries has dramatically reduced. On the UK pages as well - the activity after the July 2012 changes was frantic!

Scouse and I will be applying for my spouse visa in around 6 months so I'll probably up the activity level over there God knows where we'd be without BE, I didn't have a clue before I joined.

Re Facebook, I've gone right off it. Loved it at first, but these days my newsfeed seems to mainly consist of what people had for dinner, photos of cute kittens, and 'look at me!' posts. Bah humbug.
