Default Australia for the World Cup!

I've been working on a World Cup predictor with my daughter.

She's plumped for Australia to beat Brazil in the final (that's after also beating them in the group stages).

Does anyone want to join her in her optimism.

Australia for the Cup!

The hubby (ozzy) will join your daughter in blind optimism I may be a bit more realistic though

I was going to say 'anyone but England', but given how mind-numbingly old that whole '1966' thing has got, I hope they win ... then they should ceremonially bury that bloody black and white 'they think its all over' footage in the Blue Peter garden...

Seems like your used to supporting losers.

I think Brazil should do the decent thing and:

- put only 2 players on the field (no goalkeeper required) and

- give Australia a 100 goal start.

...then again Australia will still lose and blame it on the weather

As opposed to Sven Eriksson's explaination for England's exit in 2002 as "We did not use the advantage we had of playing with 11 against ten." What do you think Sven and his army of apologists are going to blame this time?

If Greece are champions of Europe then anything can happen.

I'm supporting Aussie and England, with as much heart as i can muster.

Personally I rate Aussies chances against Brazil, there again I'm an eternal optimist as is proved by my 35 year 'affliction' of supporting Palace.

As for getting through to the Quarters Aussie has 3 world class players, as do Japan and Croatia, Kewell, Cahill, and Bresciano, with Grella almost making the world class grade.... Note I've left Viduka of the list, as he is so hit and miss as not to be relied on. Chipperfeild, Culina, and Thompson, could/would also make most premiership teams squads.

So who knows

I just hope Brazil, think it will be as easy a stroll in the park as you Mike.

I'll just be waiting for the moment when the Australian player gets all confused and launches himself off Ronaldo's shoulders and then stands on his head to catch the ball in mid-flight....

Yes and that was a shocker, but lets face it, it won't happen again.

We were on the subject of Brazil and they will cruise it.

I think Brazil will aswell, probably 5 -1 but if they take it too lightly anything could happen, maybe 2-2.
