I'm taking my football flag and going to Mullaloo park, I'm going to start drinking at 9am and by mid afternoon will be involved in a huge brawl with the local bogans. Just like last year.

Ha ha ha. No seriously. On Australia day I like to batten down the hatches and have a quiet one at home. All that extreme drunken nationalism pisses me off (and I'm proud to be "Australian by choice" too). Like my Asian Australian mates, it's a day to stay inside and not show your face in public in case it gets punched.

I'll never forget all the fighting and bottle throwing at my first and only Skyworks on the Perth foreshore where I had taken my family.

I'm also on duty with the fire brigade so no alcohol and God knows what we could get called out to.
