AQIS Import Permit completion
#1
Hi
My dog is flying tomorrow (well I hope he is), I have a last min panic question about the import permit from AQIS. I am sure my exporters said that my vet only has to complete the Export permit but cannot find any mails/paperwork that suggest that!!!
Can someone confirm this and that the exporter company would fill out all the details on the Import form before he flies?
Honestly I do have everything else in order
Any help is good
Thanks

The way it works: You or the exporter (whichever one does the application) applies to AQIS for the import permit. AQIS grant the import permit and send it to you or the exporter. The import permit comes back with Veterinary Certificate A and B which must be completed and endorsed by an Official Veterinarian in the country of export.
For the UK, the Official Vet is one employed by the Dept of Environemnt, Food and Rural Affairs.
In other words: It can't be your vet that fills in the form, it has to be an "Official Vet". If youv'e paid an exporter to do the process for you, they will have arranged for this to be done just prior to departure.
You or your exporter also needs to have arranged a quarantine place for your dog in Oz.

If your dog is flying out tomorrow to Oz, he will already have his import permit.

Thanks for your comments - you were right "panic over" Dropped him at Heathrow Cargo at 6am this morning and the poor little mutt did not stop crying

They confirmed that their vet does all the completion of Import form. Paid a fortune for his 1st class seat to Perth and now wont see him till the end of the month

Thanks again
