Who has been to one?
Was it a load of shite, or did they tell you things they couldn't possibly have known?
If they are not 'talking to the dead', then what is it all about?

Anyway, he told me that the majority of his custom came via adverts in those women's mags and bascially they would just run a random fortune written message software app that would give them their reading, then the operator would just read it out.

He wouldn't let us verbally respond to the things he said, but I guess someone who was good at reading body language could still pick up clues as to if they were on the right track.
I think there are lots of scam artists in this area who are only too happy to prey upon people's grief.
Wasn't Derrin Brown a psychic scam artist?

I think there are a lot out there who play on people'e emotions- as people often go when they are low.
However, I have been to one (in London though) who was so accurate it was untrue....I wrote everything down and about 80pct of it panned out within 6 months.
Some of it was amazing-like telling me my mother-in-law's very unusual Asian name which she said she was having trouble pronouncing it well as it was in a different language (ie the Asian language of my MIL) - and got it spot on!

My neighbour had a 'psychic party' about omg 9 years ago. (Can't believe where the time has gone!) There were about 6 of us, several bottles of wine and this 'psychic'. I was sceptical to say the least - but he did get loads of stuff right about my past (not a lot of women at my age were widows and he also described my husband in scary detail) and he also got lots right about the immediate future for me and my neighbour.

Yeah agreed. The Derryn Brown seance scam was brilliant

I don't belive in ghosts/afterlife/talking to the dead, but it does baffle me how a small minority of 'mediums' appear to be genuine.

I know lots of stories about the accuracy of fortune tellers, etc. But just be careful that you can cope with what they say: good and bad. Personally, I steer well clear of them

one of my customers in a previous job ran a business from his home out in the bayside area. The house was amazing, very ranchy feel. Anyway the type of business was a phone based fortune reading. They worked around the clock in shifts so they could take calls from all countries around the world.

Haven't ever gone to a medium... although my sis in law read my tarot cards once and told me that I am independent and rarely rely on anyone.. considering I was married to her brother who worked away all the time and i brought up the kids without him around most of the time, I can just suppose she might have had some insight! lol!

I think all men are mediums (media?) really. We are very good at telling women what they want to hear
