Anyone got an Iphone?

www.itassociates.com.au. And if he's in SharePoint, he must be in demand!
If it's calendar sync you are after, the iPhone will sync with Outlook (via iTunes bizarrely) when you have it plugged in - it will also sync your contacts and internet favourites - but it will not sync calendars when not plugged in. If you only need to update it once a day - no problemo. And it's an absolute breeze to configure first time anyway so you could probably sack hubby

Does your OH work freelance or is he on someone's payroll? We do some SharePoint work and occasionally get asked about development, which we don't do.

I am a Mac fan, but not of the iPhone. IMHO it is way overpriced for what it can do, especially when, at least in the UK, we are so used to "free" phones on a monthly contract. I have just got a free Nokia N95 8GB and it is a fantastic phone.
The list of features is endless:
I have had quite a few mobile phones in my time and this one has to be the best by far. At the very least I no longer need to carry a mobile, a camera & Sat Nav

i purchased one and returned it after a couple of days. the reason is that the so called "edge" internet access is far to slow, you tube is not working in the uk unless you are in a wifi hotspot like starbuck and there you have to pay ofr an access code.
the next thing is that you have around 10 - 15 ringtones on the phone and they are aweful, also any songs you download have to be from the istore but the problem is that the istore uk doesn`t sell any videos nor ringtones in the uk yet. you also are unable to upload any videos unless it is from the istoreuk. the us istore won`t allow you to download unless you are in the us.
next thing is the camera, with 2 mega pixels very low quality.
the "maps" on the iphone work to some extend i for example went to greenwich got lost and found half the way via iphone maps but just before arrival at the most crucial point were i relied on it it couldn`t find my possision.
for me i think it is not a phone its rather a ipod with possibility to make a call.
far to expensive to purchase and the cost of the contract (lowest one ) would have worked out over 18 month around 1000 pounds.
guess i don`t have to tell you what you get for a 1000 pounds on the market.
i see it as a gadget if you got money (too much money) but otherwise it is not justified the price. perhaps not yet as the us market is far ahead compared to the uk market and it will take at least another year i was told to catch up if apple puts the foot down and get the technology exported over to us.
hope that was some help please remember this is my point of view and i`m sure there are people out there which experienced the total opposite.

Includes SDK & Built-in Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
Been thinking about one myself, but only if I can do the Exchange sync stuff... Trouble is, I reckon my missus would nick it off me in double quick time...

Never take anything at face value, there is a huge community of hackers and helpful sorts out there who can find you a 'workaround' for every thing you want to do. I don't use iTunes (because it doesn't exist on Linux) but I sync my music, pictures, videos, podcasts and plenty of other stuff with zero difficulty.Ringtones - just add your own! You can make them with iTunes (though I think they removed the functionality in the latest version) or with any number of audio editors such as Audacity (free). You don't even need iTunes to sync them to the phone.
The speed of the Edge service depends on your telco. Mine works fine here and I know quite a few other people with iPhones and decent Edge. There are a million forums posts on how to fix the Youtube issue too. Google is your friend.
Oh yes and contract? What contract?
Buy one from the Apple store or ebay, download ZiPhone, plug in the phone, run ZiPhone with the correct options, put in any SIM you like. Bugger paying out on a contract.I do agree with you on the camera - 2MP is not really enough for a 'cutting edge' device. The maps are OK and never meant to replace a real GPS but it does well enough to find yourself so long as you have a GSM signal.

Yep Toowong. It's OK except the trip across the city (I live bayside) can be a real pain in the nads some days. We have some clients in Kenmore, though I'm generally based in the office anyway.

OH runs a boutique consultancy (sounds wanky LOL!) with his business partner - Myriad Technologies. They do a lot of development, BA work, training, workflow, "look and feel" stuff and are Microsoft Gold partners. They are flat out but are currently recruiting to cope with huge demand, but any leads definitely welcome! Thanks

Yes, I can imagine that daily commute would be pretty painful.
