Thanks,I actually do Yoga and it has been helping me a lot with anxiety.
I will get my hands on some Rescue Remedy in the UK before we fly home, I've used it before and it does help, I've also got travel sickness arm bands which really help me too as the anxiety seems to bring on the travel sickness or vice versa???
We are flying on the A380 to Singapore and then another big plane from there to Australia, I agree it makes a difference and all the in flight entertainment helps too.

Hi!
Just wondered if anyone else shares my fear of flying? It started around 2 years ago after a bad flight in Thailand and was made much worse after we flew through major storms from Bali to Singapore on the way over to the UK and I had my first experience of travel sickness (along with many other people) I am already starting to feel anxious about our flights back home to Australia in 2 months, hopefully the excitement will take over??
Anyone have any tips on how to get past this?

Yep, I used to be really scared of flying too. I'm the one who used to sit there constantly chanting "God, what was that"? every time we hit turbulance, and my fear was getting worse every time I flew. However, having kids helps as I have to be "brave" and give loads of reassurance - I don't want them to turn out like me. For really bad bumps, OH takes over and distracts their attention. I have now been won over by the "what will be will be" and short of not getting onto a plane, there's nothing I can do anyway. For me it's definately the control thing by the way. Also, on a particularly bumpy flight OH said that I had to get a grip or, with us living on an island (UK), if I let my fear progress any further, we would be stuck here and not be able to venture into the rest of the world beyond Europe. This really struck a chord as a friend of mine refuses to get on a plane so the whole family has to stay here or in France which I don't think is fair on their kids (nothing against either country, but you know what I mean).
I understand that hypnotherapy works wonders for some folk, so that may be worth a try. Good luck.

I know a taxi driver who's scared of flying. His mates take the piss out of him that all he needs to do is put a toy steering wheel on the back of the seat in front then he'll be OK.

I never used to be scared of flying, but I have had a couple of things happening of late which has made me abit nervous.I tend to stick the ear phones on pretty much straight away and blast my ears with some good music. That way you start thinking about happy stuff(depending on what you choose to listen to of course
)and it takes your mind off the flight.

That also reminds me of the time we jumped on a ship to Port Said(Egypt)and all they kept playing was that "White Flag"song, with lyrics...."I won't go down with this ship"????Nice one!No wonder I did'nt sleep!
