Well do walk it, but its hard to walk past the sign at the bottom of the rock from the indigenous people politely asking people not to because of the spiritual significance and religious importance it holds to them....I personally thought it very disrespectful...but hey, thousands of people ignore the sign and do it anyway....we all make choices in life...

Never driven that trip, but do work and drive in the desert. If the route requires 4x drive then be sure to be properly prepared.

Firstly, is the vehicle a true 4x4 or a school run 4x4. A lot of the cars sold as such would not actually last a day out here.

I climbed. And I would climb again.

They did not have the No Climb sign up in the early 90's, that is a more recent thing.

I had to wee in one of the caves at the base as I was red-in-the-face crossing-my-legs busting and didn't want anyone to see me with my daks down. I have since been told that was disrespectful thing to do, as all the caves are sacred - but hey it was 15km to the nearest toilet, what the heck was I meant to do!

Magnificent but hard steep climb. So if you do climb, make sure you wear appropriate non-slip flat shoes that grip.

But if others think it is disrespectful, the base walk is good too.
