Another Book Depository fan here. I tried Amazon and FishPond then I found Book Depository. Great service - last book I bought arrived 5 days later. Free postage and books extremely well priced (cheaper than within UK)

I've used Amazon a fair bit. They don't have an aussie site. I usually buy 2nd hand on there but am finding lately that some people don't want to post overseas. Must be that extra bit of hassle at the post office counter or something...yeah really resisting making a stereotype remark about Americans being insular here.

I have used Book depository and it is great.
However the other day someone mentioned bookdepository.com (rather than .co.uk) and for many things it is cheaper.
Wierd as it is the same company, with same website design- jsut operates out of Guernsey.

Maybe they don't charge VAT?

If it is true that Amazon are pricing per book then I might move after all.

I don't think you get VAT on books.
We've used both .com and .co.uk and which is cheaper depends. Sometimes it's one, sometimes it's the other. It's a bit of a pain as we now have to check both.
PS: I did write to my MP about the book scam here and got a reply that was non committal. He's in a safe seat so he doesn't need to buy my vote.

Quick bump as a result of an email I just got from ABEbooks - free Aus/NZ shipping from AussieBookSeller

For most of the books I buy Amazon is still cheaper with the postage. Might be worth comparing.
FX rate changes effect it.
However as Christmas is coming I have ordered with Book Depository in the hope they are quicker - Pollyanna was indicating books arrive in days rather than the weeks I get with Amazon - and no- I am not willing to pay any more!

Fishpond is ok site.
Had a look for a particular book I wanted on Book Depository and know why they do not charge for mail the book was about triple the price I could buy it from on Amazon UK.
