Right, back to why I've put a thread up:

Anyone else having a bloody (almost literally) battle at work over the air con? A girl I work with insists on having the aircon up at at least 26 degrees...I sweat like a P.I.G (conjures up an unpleasant image, I know) It's a constant battle...I tweak it down a degree or two and she cranks it up every chance she gets...and whinges she's cold all the time!! It doesn't help that she's as skinny as a bloody pipe cleaner tho and therefore has no 'meat' to keep her warm.

I'm half thinking most of it is just a 'I've been here longer than you, so I'm in charge of the aircon' sort of thing.

Anyone else doing battle??
wear less clothes for work then ...i think air-con in shops and offices is freezing actually.
I used to always turn it up as i am a cold person too..
I'm with the other woman on this i'm afraid.
You'll have to sweat this one out

You can't generalise about temps in offices and shops saying they're *freezing* as places differ depending on what the temp is set to.....they're not universal.

I wear trousers or a skirt and a short sleeved cotton shirt for work each day...in a professional environment you can't really wear shorts each day, so I'm wearing as little & as light clothes as I can get away with.

As martinw01908 said, you can always put a layer on but you can't really sit in an office naked!!

The world isn't ready for the sight of me with no clothes on

Yea I reckon I should take her a jumper....actually it would help if she actually ate something too. She's about 5'8" and weighs about 50kgs at the most. Now that's not a dig at skinny people before everyone jumps down my throat...it's just an observation...maybe if she ate more she'd feel a bit healthier.

Normal people go to work dressed for the given temperature on that day so they wouldn't be carrying around extra clothing in case some nugget at work suddenly decides to turn the place into a fridge... :scared: .

Simplest solution is to put all the hot people in one office and all the colds in another, the two just don't mix.

PMSL! I get abuse for this sort of thing. Its part of my job to control environments and room temps is one of the things i deal with, for the record(boring as it is lol)we keep room temps at 21.5 oC in offices and cleanroom areas.
People are too cold, then too hot,you spend ages sorting it out and you walk no more than 5 feet and some buggers altering the wall stats!!!
We then made them tamperproof and within a few days we got calls that our stats had FELL off the wall.

Now anyone who smokes must go outside to a bus shelter type thingy and in this weather(wet East Kilbride),none of the complainers seem to moan when they want a fag in their mouths!

Okay, slightly disgusting but....
Make sure that on a really hot day, you go in without deodorant and don't have a shower and then make sure you hang around her all day and complain about the heat. If she doesn't have a problem with you by the end of the day, she will need her nose sorted out.

I don't WANT to turn the place into a bleedin' fridge!!! I just want to be comfortable at work. You can't tell me that working in an office where the temp is set to 26 degrees is acceptable OR comfortable.
