I'm sure I read a while back that there was an agreement between the UK and Aus that debts from the UK could be enforced here?

Could be wrong on this.

We currently owe our creditors £12k in loans and credit cards so do I

1.) Repay them and come over with £8k.
2.) Transfer the monies in my UK account and keep repaying them.
3.) Run with my money and don't look back.

We don't plan on coming back as we are used to living away from our families (currently live 200 + miles away at the moment).

My wife is a secondry school techer (degree & PGCE Educated) so we know we should not have a problem in her obtaining a job, I on the other hand work in finance so if its anything like the UK know that jobs are hard to come by in this industry.

We are moving to start again as a family.

I know what i want to do but not sure what implications would arise.

Any help please

Thanks
Dont repay anything, have you forgot that the taxes you have paid is going towards the billions to help bail out the banks in the uk that have rorted you do the same

There's always a trail to somebody's address. The Aussie tax office knows where you live. It would be interesting if they ever gave addresses out to bailiffs.

Why would they? Nothing in it for them apart from revenue leaving the country it wouldn't make sense.

They wouldn't be allowed to - privacy laws, data protection etc.

Do what you want, you will anyway. I'm over this constant query. You know what's right and if you choose to do a runner then do it but I don't see the need to go on a public forum and discuss it unless of course you're only doing it to wind people up.

It is a reciprocal agreement. Suppose an Aussie business may be able to chase somebody in the UK and have revenue coming back.

The agreement is mainly used for people whp try to leave a country and owe the government, student loans etc.
Always seems to be lots of opinions on this subject and no one ever comes out and say yes I've done it and got caught, nor I've done it and got away with it

Why would it be interesting? Your creditors are hardly going to be waiting for you at the arrivals gate of Heathrow are they? They will only know of your whereabouts once you start applying for credit in the UK

EDIT: Its mentioned a million times already but...

A civil debt (i.e a debt you owe the British government for example tax) will follow you round the world.

A consumer debt (i.e credit card, store card, loan, HP loans etc) stays in the UK and there aint alot anyone can do to make you pay up if you're in Oz. You may get letters from DCA's with threats but they cant make you pay up.

A student loan if taken out pre-1998 is a consumer debt. One taken after 1998 is classed as a civil debt. So therefore a pre-1998 student loan you could 'run' from if you so wished.

I dont condone running from debts by the way.

I dunno about that! On my recent trip back to England there were plenty of under-cover Student Loans spies watching my every step. You know, the usual guys sitting on park benches wearing trenchcoats pretending to read newspapers with little holes cut out so their eyes can see through.

They're everywhere!

I've also heard that student loans employees often go onto working for the CIA and MI6.

I wouldn't risk it people they might just assassinate you given the chance
