Hi Paula

We'll join you. We arent sure where we want to go yet, but have booked up to have a look at Adelaide (and Melbourne) in October. Heard so many good reports that we've got to check it out. We are staying at Adelaide Shores Holiday Village.

Have you been before?

Hi

We are in Newcastle-under-Lyme now, but born few miles up the road in Stoke. I was brought up in the next street to the old Victoria Ground.

Derbys not too far now that theyve finished the A50.

Whyalla is a smaller town northwest of Adelaide. It's a few hours by car or there are daily flights on the smaller commuter planes. They have a hospital and a lot of the specialists from Adelaide do visits regularly, so medical care wouldn't be a problem. As for amenities, I don't know. Haven't been there myself. From what I know it's a booming place, though with the mines nearby etc.

I've been to Whyalla, and rather liked it. Wouldn't live there myself, though; too far out in the country - and the environment is hot & harsh, especially when compared to the UK. Largely rural; locals are friendly, but you might struggle to find employment unless you're a tradie.

There's a thread on it here, with some useful info.

Hope this helps.

:)

Thirty one years in Adelaide and I really miss it :( ...I know Whyalla quite well and had a short stay in the hospital there as I was taken ill on my way to Port Lincoln ( I just love Port Lincoln and Coffin Bay:) ). Great hospital. I myself definately couldn't live in Whyalla, extrememly hot in summer...but it's not too bad. I once stayed in a motel there...overnight...and the following night a man was murdered outside the pub that the motel was attached to  ....Bindi

Well I've been sat outside Starbucks in the CBD today with my friends watching the world go by. I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be.

Adelaide is a fabulous place, so come on over everyone. You might want to wait until after winter though :D

Hi there, I remember the waiting was the hardest bit, when we got to this stage it took exactly 19 days until our visa was granted, so I will be keeping my fingers crossed that yours will be quick.

Where in the Midlands are you from?

Not long now Paula, get ur bags packed. I'm an administrator and have to deal with Visa apps for overseas staff and I know it doesn't take that long if they get the bums into gear. It will be worth the wait as you well know.
Where about's are you going again? Have you employment to goto...hubbys going to be sending me out to work so need to start searching. I think more part-time.LOL
