Yes, but it is quite rare.

It involves admitting a lot of stuff that causes their behaviour in the first place, and as they are so out of touch with themselves most struggle to change it.

I had one of those once. Never again. Run,run run i say!

don't know what sort of abuse we're talking here but no I don't think they can change enough for it to never happen again.

I'd say no.... often the abusers have been abused themselves at some part in their lives

No,

The only person who can change things is the abuser themselves.

Its a tough one to call...but taking your kids to new surroundings wouldnt make much difference if they were witnessing abuse on a regular basis..U could live in oz, england or even the moon but if the abuse is still there nothing will change for the better

Default Re: Abuse

If the abuse relates to stress in the abuser then the stress will be 10 times worse going through the whole immigration/ relocation thing....

However, most abuse is linked to issues of power and control... Imagine how much more powerful and controlling the abuser could be by removing all your support networks/escape routes by coming here

I think there are studies that show that men who abuse are very resistant to changing their behaviour, even with significant help.....it can also very dangerous for partners who leave......get help from professional sources, as above, because it is all about power and control and isolation makes it worse.
