I assume you haven't checked the actual figures then ?

Absolutely shocking journalism.

I agree, in both countries.

A quote from one article, that I feel is right was: "calm assessment, not hyperbole, is what is needed from both nations at this moment."

Unfortunately the words of India's Minister of External Affairs: "heinous crime on humanity" (assuming the media quoted correctly) does nothing to stop tensions rising.

Close down Melbourne's beer barns and put a night curfew on the "citizens" until they sober up and know when they are behaving themselves.

Only people drunk, in Melbourne, after dark, kill people? Won't be going to Melbourne then.

Good point. No beer of any description until they dry out.

Seems the natural Indian lifestyle of being out and about has put them in harms way. Which has ended up with incidents being reported as racial, which has turned into a fad amongst thugs and other idiots here.

Bloody tragic really.

This fellow had been attacked before, which makes me shake my head @ the fact that he walked through a park.

I know a couple of people mostly via work, that have been beaten up in parks and its always a very severe beating. I always try and avoid parks late at night, mainly because I know thats where you may encounter nutters looking for people likes gays to give a beating to,

Still Aus has a major problem with this now, and something needs to be done.

Mandatory sentences for people caught carrying knives two times. First a severe warning and a fine second time 6 months.

I have seen stories mentioning the person is a British temp resident or backpacker before - when the temporary nature of their visa is relevant to the granting of parole or not. The police in this case have raised the issue of him not being a PR and have opposed bail in case he flee's, but the judge has refused - his migrant status seems vital background to reporting the parole hearing otherwise it would not make sense.

ok, how about this story.

What a charming place.

Should stake out these killing fields and send some plain clothes police into the parks to lure the evil doers to their doom.

If everyone knows that thugs lurk in the parks of Westren Melbourne after 8 pm. Then why doesn't police raid and nab them. Why this obvious thing is not understood by the authorities.

Why not sentence them first time only. What is the probability of catching the same person again? Very less.
