He looks 8 years old!!

His Dad probably told him to get off his playstation and ride his bike.
Or, the 15 year old mother actually was going to blame her 10 year old lover but decided the 13 year old got more pocket money!

only a baby himself and not a bloody clue

Messing about and nature took it's course?! What with their pants round their ankles - yeah everyday kids play that! He should've been playing with a football not discovering his own balls. He was only 12 at the time, It's a disgrace. When he was asked how he was going to take care of the baby financially he said 'what's financially?' What an effin joke.

Doesn't understand the word 'financially' but he knows how to put his toad in the hole

LOL, millions of kids play 'Dr's and nurses' and 'Moms and Dads'. I have no idea whether they knew what they were doing or not, but legally they are children and can not be expected to understand the full ramifications of what they are doing. That's why sex is illegal under 16. I just have pity for them, this publicity is doing no good at all.

I am surprised that he is so young (and looks very young too) but calling names and stigmatising children doesn't help.

Obviously this raises questions about why such young children were having sex and whether they knew about contraception / had access to it. It also raises questions about their family life, but again I wouldn't like to speculate as my assumptions might be completely wrong.

My 13 year old daughter is still a child, she knows though that.. opening legs and inserting a pen*s,fingers with sperm on etc in or around a vag*na, can lead to pregnancy.

He looks very young, even for 13, and when I heard him interviewed it sounded as if his voice hasn't yet broken (even allowing for the fact that people often speak at a higher pitch when they're nervous).

It's obviously sad — it might be "natural" but our society isn't set up for people to be parents as young as this. But the prurient media aren't really doing these people any favours with the publicity they are giving them. I hope the grandparents are able to help, because clearly it will be terribly difficult for a 15-year-old and a 13-year-old to bring up a child without substantial help, both financial and purely practical.

The new parents are children, and we need to remember that, but I would expect a 15-year-old girl to know about contraception and what it is that leads to conception (and a 13-year-old boy, for that matter, ought to have some knowledge about these things as well). That said, accidents do happen (even with adults).

I do wonder about the parents of the new parents though: according to one report I have read (which might or might not be right, of course), the boy often stayed overnight at the girl's house because her mother was his babysitter — that is fair enough — but she let them sleep in the same bed. If true, that seems odd: I wouldn't be letting a 13-year-old boy sleep in the same bed as my 15-year-old daughter, or vice versa.

Saw the picture in The Sun and thought , ´´what is his mum doing in the picture with him ?´´

At 12 or 13 I thought about s-- a lot , and did most of my life so far . These days that´s all I do , think about it & try and remember .

Biologically speaking...not really surprising, since humans are neotenous apes.

Neoteny is a process which leads to an organism reaching reproductive capacity in its juvenile form.

That's by the by, it's not a matter of anything biological we understand the fact young people have sex and surprisingly a 12 year old (which is how old he was when the baby was conceived) has got lead in his pencil, but it's not about that - it's the fact that someone who wasn't even a teenager at the time, was able to and knew how to pro create and succeed! The parents have got alot to answer for in this case and the fact that a 15 year old was shaggin a 12 year old well maybe she'll want to higher her standards next time. Gross.

I have to say I watched the news this afternoon & thought OMG especially as the age gap between the lad & his baby is the same as between my eldest & youngest boys, so to me it looked like a young lad cuddling his baby sibling.

When I was at school (I left school 23 years ago) a big percentage of the lads would have known & did know exactly what to do at that age & I have to admit I was no angel but thankfully never got caught out. Under age sex is nothing new & sadly neither is a 15 year old mother. I do feel sorry for the new grandparents as I know my parents would have been so disappointed in me if I'd fallen pregnant & it would have been no reflection on them as I couldn't fault their parenting skills, I was just promiscuous. I just hope & pray my kids have a bit of sense as I don't want to be a grandparent for some years yet thanks!

Great...but you would agree that any child of 13 would be too young to give informed consent to sex, right? Because if you're arguing that a hypothetical 13 YO is old enough to know and decide when sex is inappropriate/would have bad consequences, you're also arguing that the same child could also know when sex would be appropriate/not risky...which is not smth that many would agree with!

Hey! John Major must be really pleased - we're on the way to Victorian Values. Now all we need is cholera, transportation and chimney sweeps, and we'll be right back where he wanted us.

I was horrified, mostly because of how young he looked. I mean I've seen stories before of young teens getting pregnant but usually they look more sexually mature. I know damn well that when I was 15 I wouldn't have been attracted to such a little kid and god knows what she was thinking. I suppose they have done a test to determine he is the dad. But yes, full marks to the mother who let them sleep together. Great idea.

Anyway, now that it's happened I have to commend him on saying he wanted to be a good dad, even if he has little clue what that means. Obviously, he's not going to be able to contribute financially for some time, but people always expect the mother to grow up and be a parent but often let the boy off due to immaturity. Maybe some young guys can rise to the occasion (if you'll excuse the pun) if they aren't let off the hook.

One thing I find interesting is what is considered illegal, or child molestation even, in one country, is perfectly legal in another country. In Spain for example, another country with Western European values, the age of consent is 13 for all types of sexual relationship.

Many western countries set the age of consent at an age that many people from other countries are probably shocked by.

Not saying that this case is right or wrong......just sayin.
