Land Tax 2016
We will be on the island next week for two weeks and I want to pay the Land Tax due on our house for the financial year 2016-2017. I believe it runs from 1 April to 31 March.
Could someone advise where I should go to do this.
Thanks

I think you can pay in Oistins, upstairs from the shops (in the same place as you can do a drivers license..). what area are you staying in.??

Thanks for your guidance Sunni, that's exactly where I can pay it in Oistins. Unfortunately because the bills have not yet been prepared I cannot pay in advance. However the lady assured me I won't get into trouble if I don't pay immediately!!

Is it like here, they prep the bills round march, but you get 5% off if you pay before july. Actually its one bill im very happy to pay, it costs about 150 us for my house for the year which covers things like daily rubbish collection. Uk would be 10 times that for 2 weekly, even monthly in some areas collection...
If you dont pay it interest just accumulates and after a few years they can in theory sell the house out from under you, which is interestingly happening to a major hotel that doesnt appear to have paid taxes for a while and thought it could get away with that and not doing its land management/improvement work as its government contract required...
