Hello
arrived in Yunta,(top of SA to those who dont know) small town of about 30 people with another 70 odd on the staitons. Been working since the start of the school term and already had a SSO resign and the principal been taken off to hospital with heart problems (both nothing to do with me i may add)
Yunta is a long way from anywhere, two hours to Pirie or Broken Hill, id rather travel to Pirie though, much better outlook. Its very hot and dusty.
Accomodation is large and with basic furnishing, with resident mouse in my bedroom, im not in there sleeping till it moves out!
People are very friendly and helpful.
ive encounted redbacks, lizards, but no snakes yet thank god. Not seen one live roos just a couple of dead ones by the road side.
Miss home lots at certain times and at others dont, silly that but then maybe that just me!
Glad im on the net now as it gives me a life line to the outside world.
regards

I've been through Yunta on the way to Broken Hill. Know what its like to live in small Country town, lived in Ceduna 900 kms from Adelaide the other direction to you..........all I can recommend is get involved with the locals, drink at pub, play or support sport teams if you can and depending on which way you feel barrack for either the crows or the power in the AFL.
I now live in Perth, still support the Crows(!) we have a WA suporters club! ALthough I'm about to get married to a Freo Dockers season ticket holder!
SOmetimes still miss the small towns and the way everyone knows everyone else, I have no idea who my neighbours are here - apart from noisy!
Anyway, have fun and I know that the SA Ambos are also looking for vollies! Yunta is the end of the line for the SA Ambos, I was married to a vollie and we were in the Roadhouse in Yunta (Mobil) I think and got talking to a local about the volunteer situation and nearly had us recruited there and then!
Enjoy the peace and quiet.
