Hi Lind
CONGRATULATIONSCan I ask did you have your medicals and police checks before you sent everything off!
We have just come back (yesterday) from Adelaide via Brisbane and sydney on a factfinding holiday.
We had medicals at beginning of sept and were hoping visa would be through before we went but medicals where slow to arrive in Adelaide so case worker couldnt process it in time!!!!! Hoping visa will be through in the next week or two. I'm a nurse too in Tameside.

Fantastic news!
Have you got any idea where you might settle out there?
Goodwnsherratts : What did you think about Aus after your visit? Where did you like the best?

Hi All
Yes I agree the govt doesnt know what its losing by not appreciating nurses more it really pisses me off when I have done 4 years of training have a degree, two diplomas and am a specialist practitioner to be earning 25 grand I know its a decent wage but when other people in a product producing trade earn much more I feel very undervalued. Anyway a debate for another time, I'll get off the soap box now.
As for the trip I'll post on a new thread so other intersted parties can view

We sent our application off with the police check - the medicals were sent on about 7 days later by the doctor .
Hope you hear soon - there doesn't seem to be any logic in the visa process !
Will start off in north east Melbourne as we have relatives there.

Boo Hoo for us . I'm a nurse/midwife. We applied in April, still have no news, tried phoning ,told they couldn't tell us anything. Boo Hoo!!!!!!!!! I can't believe the amount of nurses getting fasttracked so quickly ahead of us.
Oh well I'll guess we'll get there in the end.
Book yer flights quick before the fares shoot up.
All the best!

Hi Barbara
I think they seem to be fastracking people who have applied for state nomination independent, I would try e-mailing them it worked for me she was really helpful we only officially applied in july so we are still in the 4 month timeframe that they say for nurses where are you hoping to live?

Hoping to go to Perth now, but put NSW on top of list of preferables on the form. Didn't want state nominated visa incase we want to move around when we get there.(IF!)
