Red face worried about meds ????

had our meds on Tuesday at the handsworth wood medical centre all seemed to be going well til he noticed that my girlfriend had had an op on her leg.
so he has requested a report from the specialist which performed the op and now a bit worried that we Will fall at the final hurdle, which would be a big disappointment.
would appreciate if anyone else has been in the same situation to let me know if all went well for them

DO NOT WORRY!

That is nothing to be frightened about. They are just checking and makinhg sure, or maybe they wont.

We were both put as cat b's as the other half had a bladder comlaint(said she may need other tet) didnt.

Id had 2 brain ops and a heart valve replacement, backed up with pages of reports of heart sugeon and was told they may be out of date.

Not even a quiery from dimia. We got in, so do not worry if your case is less than ours, as if we passed then anyone can!!!

good luck.

Sometimes the gp will tell you but not always just ask. Cat A is for people who have no problems at all, have no previous medical history that needs more info. Cat B is for people who have conditions, or previous medical history which they look into a bit more. If you think you fall under this cat, then go prepared. Ask your doctor for copies of discharge from hospital papers, or investigation reports on the matter and take them with you, it saves a lot of time.

Hi JO thanks for replying,

Our meds have already gone so dont know which cat we are, though I presume because we both had to get additional info from our gps that we are B.

Does this make a difference to getting a visa?

Hi

I agree - Dont Worry

Many people are category B (a medical issue picked up) but the impact on the Australian support system is what is considered when deciding whether to issue the visa or not. Primarily they just want to make sure you are not going to be a drain on their health service.

My hubby was catgegory B and had to have further tests (they discovered a problem with his lung following the x-rays and the radiologist put - 'possible TB' in the report, boy did we laugh!! If you have TB you will not get in) We spent a log time worrying while he had the tests and then once the details were submitted to DIMIA, but never heard anymore, the visa'a were issued a couple of months later.

Good luck and dont worry too much if you can help it

Paula

Yeah dont worry, I have had gall bladder removed and Ive got high blood pressure, Im over weight and got asthma so I gave the Doctor letters from my GP saying all under control and I gave her 6 blood pressure readings all normal and a diabetes test, just for added measure and we got our visa's granted last friday. no cat B no queries. Good luck and dont get in a panic, you'll be fine..

This should cheer you up. We had meds at Handsworth Wood and the doctor there is very cautious. Both me and my wife were requested to get GP's letters for very old / minor conditions. My wife was unable to get a letter as her GP was on extended holiday so he put her down as Category B. The good news (for us and probably you) is that Sydney still gave us both clear passes.

Yes I agree they are a little fussy. We had to provide a letter about out daughter who had a sleep test when she was 3, even though I explained that it was because she snored so badly. Anyway I went to the docs and they dug out the info and bloody hell it said she needed her adanoids out. No one had told me this and she was 10 by this time. We had left the area where test was done when she was 4 so obvioulsy missed her being called in for the op. Anyway, I just wrote a note to the doctor to say that the only thing they could find was an entry (included copy) on their files to say adanoids? and that she had no problems now and had obviously out grown it, which is true. But boy was I annoyed that no-one had told me. Also I had had my gall bladder removed 4 weeks before meds and he asked for a copy of the discharge letter.
