workshops
Hi there, does anyone here know what the situation with car mechanical workshops is in Aus, roughly what do they charge per hour, what does the average mechanic get paid, do people have a preference for back street or main dealer places.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Hubby is a jack of all trades master of **** all, ( only kidding, just seems like it sometimes) but at present we own a mot station and associated and am thinking about doing something similar (obviously not MOt's as Aus doesn't have them). Shout if you have any info.

From my experience for what its worth, the situation is much as UK - Main dealers, high prices, back street slightly cheaper. No idea of rates, but the "big job that missus" ethics apply in Oz as they do here.
Plus judging by the piles of kack I saw driven around Perth, mechanics must always be in work. !!!

The great con in Perth is the Mobile Machanic these lads have the word rip off down to a fine art they keep costs down by having small workshops and god bless come out to a job.
On the whole they have east european names and charge like a wounded bull , never ever let a lady near one of these Ned Kellys or any machanic they snifff a mug punter a mile away .
