working visa
My wife is virtually guaranteed a working visa, being on the "wanted list" as a nurse, but I,apparently am not. I am currently a design studio manager, and am looking for a suitable job within this profession. My original qualification, however, is a Technical Illustrator. Do I stand a better chance applying under this guise or not?
I am intending sending my CV prior to departure anyway. Is this worthwhile?

Do you have any knowledge of Repro/Pre-press?
I am a Graphic Designer who is taking this route as it scores more points.

Yes, I have ample repro / pre-press experience. As studio manager I also govern repro. My background was as an artworker, until I became a manger, which sort of puts me off applying under the 'graphic designer' category. For the past 2 years I have merely managed the studio - I haven't actually generated much in the way of design. I'm thinking I may need to step down a peg.

When I looked into it designers only got 50 points where as a 'pre-press tradesperson' would score 60. Either that or it was 40/50.
So if you can get references that have more of a pre-press slant on them and be able to write a small essay about the job, you might be in luck.
I am currently still waiting for my Skills Assesment to come back from Adelaide. I should know in about 2 weeks time.
Send me a PM if you like.
