A few weeks ago OH hurt his knee at work. Like usual he just plodded on trying to make out it wasn't that bad, that was until last week, when his knee became so painful he decided he needed to go to the doctor's after all.

The doctor sent him for x-rays and arranged for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging scan as he thought he may have torn his knee ligaments.

Because the injury happened at work he was told he would be covered by workers comp.

Once he had been for the scan they were meant to fax the results to the doctors, unfortunately this didn't happen:curse:

For some reason the scan hadn't been paid and therefore they wouldn't fax the results. A week later the scan still hasn't been paid for and it seems we now maybe liable to pay for it, which we believe is around $1000

And we still don't know what the injury is that OH has recieved

Is this the way the workers comp scheme works then?

There should be a Workers Comp liaison person at his workplace - probably a WH&S person? They will know who at Workers Comp to contact and how to resolve this. If you have no luck, pm me and I'll talk to our Workers Comp person and see where/who you should be calling

can I just ask a question about this too. Yesterday I was injured in a car accident whilst at work.
1. will I get paid if so will it be my full salary
2. I need to go to docs can I claim these expenses for this from work cover
3. Is there a website telling you about work cover etc

Latest is that the *** scan place are meant to get authorisation from workers comp before they do the scan, they didn't. So they have agreed to reduce the cost of the scan to $175. That was yesterday and now today workers comp have agreed to pay it!!!

although its not over yet as he has a tear in his ligament and has now been referred to a specialist.

I'm glad I found this as I was about to post a thread asking. I have picked up carpal tunnel syndrome at work through a hell of a lot of digging and telecom jointing work. I started my job in Dec and it all started end of Jan but I have been grinning and bearing it since then with one visit to the doctor for voltarin(sp) for the pain/swelling. I have reported it as an injury to work round about the time it started. Will I be covered and what for as I will probably have to have an operation on both wrists and time off work?

Hi not sure how it works in WA but have a look at www.workcoverqld.com.au
it may give you some general info. On the forms it does ask if the injury has been sustained over a period of time. I would of thought you would be covered but you will have a local workcover give them a ring and have a chat before your op as it may take a few weeks for the paperwork to be sorted and get your pay through. On the Queenland forms it say it can take up to 40 working days to process!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Means we are gonna be a bit skint till mine comes through
