Work wear - long or short sleeve shirts?

We're heading to Perth in June/July on my 457 visa. My husband will be looking for work in due course, he's currently a lawyer but will be looking for anything in admin initially. He's a bit phobic about short sleeved work shirts, but I think he'll look a bit of a pommie idiot in long sleeves in Perth.
Can anyone help.?

This is so helpful, thanks so much! I'll get a few new long sleeved shirts ordered for the container, no point giving any excuses for not getting off to work!

OH wears long sleeved for his legally job here in Perth. Has a few ties in the office to put on for meeting clients and sometimes even wears his suit jacket - although he says this is for pockets rather than actually needing to (doesn't have a 'man bag'!)
I don't think I've seen anyone in short-sleeved shirts, I've been surprised at how formal Perth is for work wear!

Your husband is right about short-sleeves.
If it's a professional environment, I would go for long sleeves...and fold them up smartly (not too high). He's not a vet...(or is he?)
Edit - if he's a lawyer...long sleeves long sleeves long sleeves write it out 1000 x.
Cheers

I work in an office in Sydney and the majority of us blokes wear long sleeve shirts but roll them up in a nice neat manner a few times.
Also slim fit shirts are in that don't have a pocket on the front or cross over strip where the buttons are. But this depends on build, not so good on the larger bloke. I like the tighter fit shirt with a good cut. I don't like the look of short sleeved shirts, it can look a bit nerdy if your not careful.
Unless you work around a financial area a suit top isn't usually required.

Shortsleeves and a pocket....hmmm...in some areas in London that will get torn off.
Also on Fridays, in particular, don't forget that a linen jacket can be worn if it's too hot for a standard weight jacket.
I love Australian workwear - nothing like shorts and workboots.

I would be required to take down my trousers and await the next person in a long line of people filing past to adminster beatings...which I no longer feel...
cheers

Joking aside, it's all about custom and tradition (culture).

Short sleeves for me, and I havn't worn a tie to work in 18 years. Also love wearing odd socks, often one red and one yellow. Senior management too.
