Seriously, long sleeves and in most cases a jacket and tie.
Jacket and tie?

Fook me, sign me up for some high-viz gear and a stop/go sign in that case

My husband works for the Director of Public Prosecutions in Perth so in a perfect position to answer this one. He tells me that all the Lawyers always wear long sleeves even in the summer. He says they dont always wear a tie but always have one handy to put one if required. The non legal staff wear both.

This is so helpful, thanks so much! I'll get a few new long sleeved shirts ordered for the container, no point giving any excuses for not getting off to work!

I think you're about 25 years out of date: that was frequently seen in Adelaide in the 1980's (along with the safari suit - now there was a look!) but I haven't seen people wearing them for many years outside the geriatric homes.

OH wears long sleeved for his legally job here in Perth. Has a few ties in the office to put on for meeting clients and sometimes even wears his suit jacket - although he says this is for pockets rather than actually needing to (doesn't have a 'man bag'!)

I don't think I've seen anyone in short-sleeved shirts, I've been surprised at how formal Perth is for work wear!

I only wear short-sleeve shirts to work but there has been a mix of long-sleeve, short-sleeve, polo in all the offices that I have worked in. Ties are rarely worn.

Your husband is right about short-sleeves.
If it's a professional environment, I would go for long sleeves...and fold them up smartly (not too high). He's not a vet...(or is he?)

Edit - if he's a lawyer...long sleeves long sleeves long sleeves write it out 1000 x.

Cheers

I like the tighter fit shirt with a good cut. I don't like the look of short sleeved shirts, it can look a bit nerdy if your not careful.

Unless you work around a financial area a suit top isn't usually required.
Cross over strip - do you mean the placket? That's something I have not noticed.

Shortsleeves and a pocket....hmmm...in some areas in London that will get torn off.

Also on Fridays, in particular, don't forget that a linen jacket can be worn if it's too hot for a standard weight jacket.

I love Australian workwear - nothing like shorts and workboots.

If I said that....

I would be required to take down my trousers and await the next person in a long line of people filing past to adminster beatings...which I no longer feel...

Yes Sir. Right away Sir. (Tugs forelock).

Joking aside, it's all about custom and tradition (culture).

Short sleeves for me, and I havn't worn a tie to work in 18 years. Also love wearing odd socks, often one red and one yellow. Senior management too.
