Default Work permit for NZ

Hi there

Can anybody give me any advice?? I am planning on going to London on Thursday and try to get my work permit for NZ over the counter. Has anybody done this and if so did you get it there and then or did it take a couple of weeks??

Thanks
Amanda

My advice is don't do it. Go to Madam Tussaud's instead and have a lemonade before the train back home.

Oh god Wilf you are soooooo funny. Please stop your stupid remarks on here. Some of the stuff you put on here is really useful advice but much of it is a load of old pants.

Answer is: it depends. Mainly on how busy they are. Try and visit at a quiet time if you can - avoid anytime around lunchtime as this is their busiest period. The NZIS counter is open until 3.45 from memory (i'd phone them to confirm that's still the case), when I visited them about 2pm, it was completely deserted...I was the only person there.

Most important thing is to make sure you have everything with you, especially supporting information like references from previous employers, evidence of qualifications relevant to the job offer etc etc.

all the best

Russ
