Default A WOOD question!

Hi all, we are not bringing any furniture with us but we are planning on taking wooden picture frames and wooden chopping blocks. Does anyone know if this is going to be a problem with customs/quarantine? Any help or advise appreciated..... thanks dee

We've just had the shipping company in....

Ratan/bamboo/whicker (sp?) are prohibited. Untreated wood is also not advisable, although he was a bit vague on this but assured us what we had would (wood!) be OK as it is either varnished or waxed.

He also mentioned that anything that comes in to contact with food/plant products should be thoroughly cleaned. He mentioned the vacuum cleaner, lawn mower but I guess the same would be true of chopping boards etc.

Thanks for that, I know it might seem weird that we're not bringing any furniture but we are happily packing our chopping boards!!! Well we love cooking so a friend bought us this lovely big & expensive chopping block which we love so we say take it. Then another friend gave us this huge board in the shape of a fish, so I thought I'd take that too as it it is so big it can double up as an ironing board .
