Default Wollongong to Perth - need moving advice!!

Hi, we relocated to Wollongong from the UK in 2010 and are now relocating to Perth.

When we moved here we shipped our belongings with Pickfords. Now we have the same stuff, plus extras! BBQ/Outdoor furniture, etc. Maybe even a car!

Any advice you could give regarding removalists would be appreciated.

We hope to move in 3 to 4 weeks!

Sorry, can't give you removals advice as I haven't done it (yet!). Just wanted to say welcome to Perth, good luck with your move (tight time frame!) - and don't forget your sunblock

Just curious - is this move due to a job offer, or did you decide on Perth as the place you want to be at and everything else was secondary?

Don't move to South of the river - it's friggin' awful (unless you're from London, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, Leicester, Bradford, Birmingham, and basically anywhere in Lancashire or the Midlands)

Good luck.

There are some great suburbs south of the river!

South Perth, Attadale, Mount Pleasant, Salter Point, Applecross, Bicton, Freo - to name a few! Pricey though.

We moved here on a 457, got PR then OH was made redundant. No luck with an Engineering job in the Illawarra in almost 12 months so have to take this offer in Perth..

Removals with Pickfords look like costing $3,500-$4,000 - almost as much as we paid to move stuff from the UK!

I think we used Crown and it was actually more than the cost of moving from the UK!

Any ideas on where in Perth you are heading?

We used Five Star Relocations in Unanderra when we moved from Dapto to Coffs Harbour and they were very good but not sure if they go to Perth.

I would move back to the south coast of NSW in a heartbeat. Lovely part of the world. Stunning coastline. My husband's cousin still lives in lovely Jamberoo

Just got back from a flying visit to Perth for a job interview for me... Loved it! All the Cosmopolitan of Sydney without the hustle bustle!

If I don't get this job, does anyone require an awesome P.A.?!

Try Kent Moving & Storage...when we moved from Sydney to Sunshine Coast, they were very good. but yes, more than the move from UK.

Just for info, the cost of moving a 20' container containing commercial goods from Sydney to Perth even 3 years ago was about $2,500 + GST. So add the packing and unpacking fees on top and its going to be up there!
