Will I be on my P's
Hello,
I'm currently living in Melbourne, I've been here since Dec 05. I'm on the temp spouse visa and thinking of changing my UK drivers licence over to a Vicroads licence.
My question is I only passed my UK test in March 05 - about 16 months ago. I'm 29 yrs old, will I have to be on my P plates? If anyone knows the answer I'd be very greatful!
Kathy

Re: Will I be on my P's
I am not sure about VIC but the NSW rules are below, I belive they are the same conutry wide.
"If you have held your driver or rider licence for less than 12 months, you will be issued a NSW provisional P1 licence. If you have held your driver licence for more than 12 months but less than three years, a provisional P2 licence will be issued."

You must have held and provide evidence that you have held a licence for at least three years from your 18th birthday to obtain a full Victorian licence. Any period where you have been disqualified from driving either in Victoria, interstate or in NZ, is excluded when calculating the period of time you have held a licence.
How come you didn't change your licence over already?

Well so I've been told. So therefore you could drive for 2 years on a UK licence in my situation without P plates...it all seems a bit confusing
