Wii console
#1
I'm considering getting my kids a Wii as have been offered one in UK for £100. Would a UK PAL console work in Aus and are Aussie games compatable with them. I know it'd mean getting a new power lead. Are there any other issues? I've read threads that say yes and no?

Just a tip, when I came with electrical stuff from the UK I found the best method was to buy or bring a couple of those rail type extension leads that take four plugs or so.
PS make sure they have surge protection.

We've just bought one - against my better judgment perhaps.
But....it's great. I love that everyone is slightly more active with it. (Although I can play Wii Play lying down...!) - perfect for winter evenings.

Hi,
Yes wii works fine as do the games.
We had Europe wii and Aus and UK games work.
Now have Aussie wii and the UK games work on it.
As for DVDs most DVD players here are region free so you can play your UK DVDs. Or you can go online for unlocking code for your player, Ive recently unlocked a UK DVD player was very easy and took seconds.

Actually, it's illegal to sell a DVD player in Australia that is region free (thank Sony for that). What you will find in the DVD player instructions is how to make it region free.

to be honest, have a look at the games availiable for the wii and make sure a lot of these appeal to you. I bought one and quickly found that all the games coming out were downgraded version that are out on the other consoles. The wii is not as powerful as the other consoles so they have to reduce the level of graphics and complexity of games for it to be able to handle them. Also there are not as many titles that are personally appealing to me I found, so make sure there are for you
Mine is going on ebay this weekend !

And just to confuse matters, for Blu-ray discs Australia is in the same region as the UK.
