Why is UKTV on Foxtel so rubbish?

I watch so little broadcast TV it's unreal. I have automatic downloads set up for all my favourite shows (whatever country they're on in) that scans the newsgroups and deposits the hi-def shows in my TV directory on my Mac media centre. If I want to watch some TV I just fire up Plex and watch the latest downloads.
Being force-fed a load of shit according to the schedules of some time-slot programmer at a media company? That's for the birds.

For a techno phobe, how do you do that ? is there an idiots guide to down load tv progs, if you can explain how to do it my 12 year old proberbly can do it for us 'oldies'
WE are stuck with austar and have to use a digi box to get terrestrial tv and austar for the satelite programmes as Darwin just hasnt got the capabilities to let us do both on one box hmm!!!
WE dont watch that much tv as we cant find what we like to watch, although i m watching wild life programmes with the kids.

I'm watching quite a bit of the BBC Knowledge channel more than UKTV. However, they appear to be a bit short on content with the same programmes being repeated quite frequently throughout the week.
Foxtel IQ is great in terms of just recording what you watch and viewing it when you wish rather than hopelessly switching channels in the hope of finding something worthwhile.

I love watching the Oz weather channel on Foxtel ch 603. It's has a lot more variety than UK Sky news weather forecasts.

It's seems to be the future of TV. Apple this week relauched it's effort at it.
Don't forget Murdoch has been on at the government for the nbn and now he's got his wish. Foxtel HD boxes are Internet ready so foxtel is actually perfectly placed for this market.

Apart from the fact nobody will need to pay for Foxtel to watch all the shows they want.

Foxtels effort launches in October by the looks of it. I have foxtel for live sport really - the rest is pretty much so so. It's not worth the money really but I couldn't do without the EPL.
