Apparently run by the BBC, UKTV seems to run only the populist tripe like Eastenders, Coronation Street, and whatever crap Andrew Lloyd Webber nonsense is going.

When you think of all the great shows, comedies and documentaries it could have on why is it just full of shite. Not only that but shite that is repeated over and over!

BBC Knowledge is pretty good. Have you seen that?

Don't bother - the internet and bittorrent is your friend when it comes to this. UKNova and The Box have everything you need - less than a day after it is broadcast in the UK.

And now Labor are in power it won't be long before you'll be able to download it before it's even been broadcast in the UK.

Yeah, the box.bz now have a sister site called theempire.bz from which you can download lots of shows from the 'british empire', e.g. Canada, Australia etc.

So you can get underbelly and spicks and specks and gruen transfer and so on from there, with no ads.

Don't quote me on this, but doesn't foxtel have to pay the BBC for all it's content shown. So therefore I'd imagine they only pay for the cheap stuff?

I use the internet primarily for most of my TV content too. Both UK and US. Must be a real bugger for folks that live in more rural areas who are stuck on quite limited download packages.

I can recommend the BBC2 comedy "grandma's house". (if anyone is interested).
