hi all.
I see so many are eager to settel in oz, so am I , But also I note in 2007/08 76923 oz's has departed permenantly, where as the migration for the same period is 149365, which mean the net migration is only 72442. ( 51.5 % )emigrated http://www.immi.gov.au/media/fact-sh...igration_1.htm.
my question is why so many are leaving ? Have I got my info correct ? becasue if this is correct I sure would dig deeper to find out why so many are leaving before moving my self.
also I am trying to find out how many PR application were received annually for all skill migration and what is the rejection percentage. can someone help to find this info.
thanks

There are many reasons why people choose to leave. Take a read of the moving back to the UK section of this forum to find some of their reasons. Others simply move on, much as you plan to move on from your home country. Others still may have PR visas but never intended to stay here forever.

People will always leave. The fact that there is positive net inwards migration should be taken as a, errr, positive.

I think some people move here for a few years and then want to experience something different and move on.

By those figures, interestingly, more Australian-born people leave the country than foriegn born. probably getting away from all the bloody immigrants!!

I presume a lot of people leave because as a lot of the time the reality is never as good as the dream. Every one is looking for something different and if you have never been to Australia before or even had the experience of moving to another town/city within the UK then the experience can be daunting and you may just be relying on ‘it must be better than here’.
Before you come to oz be honest about what improvements you want to make to your current life and after living here for a while honestly re-asses them. I presume a lot of people keep on trying to kid them selves that this must be better without ever ticking off the reasons they moved here. There is no shame to return to the UK and saying, it just wasn’t right.
