I think that Canada was 2nd on my list, but it would be nice to hear your thoughts.

Lived on the continent - too many people with bad attitudes
Lived England, Scotland and NI - crappy weather and too many people
Worked with Americans - too many people who think they are the best
Canada is too cold for me to consider
NZ - hmm too many sheep (i don't like lamb)
That leaves OZ - space, relaxed attitude, better prospects for the kids, outdoor lifestyle and the list goes on

Once we sell, we go full steam! ...... can't do a lot till the house is sold, which I appreciate might be harder than I'm hoping, but once it's sold the rest will be straight forward! (he says!!

Would you rather be walking through a snow blizzard in -10c degrees to your local frozen over lake for a game of ice hockey or ice fishing in Canada or walking down to your local beach in OZ on a nice warm sunny 30 c degrees day with clear blue sky.

Always remember when I heard you could ski in Oz ...lol, but that was when I thought ALL of Oz was sunny for 365 days a year! ...lol
How wrong, but in general Oz DOES do very well for the sun ...

I took redundancy a couple of years ago and we went to Singapore, NZ, Aus (and would have done Hong Kong but for SARS). It was only meant to be a holiday and I was intent on travelling the world. But my wife decided she wanted to go to Aus almost immediately we were there. It took her a while to convince me, though.
Before we went I would have said NZ would have been my clear preference but what we saw (South Island only) was way too quiet.
There were slight possibilities of going to Canada and the USA with work a few years ago. I quite fancied Canada but it was French-speaking Montreal and the cold also put me off. America scares the living daylights out of me (mentally not physically) so wouldn't have fancied that.
I like Singapore, Spain and Germany but the language is a factor. Didn't much care for Italy or France (too many Italians and French live there
).
I just wish Australia was only a 2 hour flight away!
