Dont forget people, the Aussies are letting you in for a purpose, you benefit their country, yes we are getting all the things that influenced our decisions, but specialist skills, our money, taxes and growing their economy are their side of the bargain.
Just because I am leaving England behind does not mean I hate it! It is where I was born and proud to be.
If any pom goes over there and starts supporting OZ over England, they will become a laughing stock! Part of the Aussie charm is their "in yer face," attitude, right up my street.
LET THE BANTER BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!!

How many aussies over here shout for england =none, because they are loyal to their home side, according to you every Irishman over here should support England, and try telling that to all the Scots living in London, HA, I can just imagine all those Italian Resturant owners cheering on England against Italy in the world cup final, NOT

Ah, the Tebbit Test. The equivalent of the American oath of allegiance.
Something I’ve thought about quite a lot. Here’s how I think it’s going to go. First of all I’m a rugby/cricket fan – don’t care if I never see or hear of another soccer game for the rest of my days. Anyway, when I arrive I’m still going to be an England supporter but, as the current players retire and are replaced with players that I don’t know from seeing them in club/county games and at the same time the Aussie team is made up from players I’m familiar with from the domestic game, then my allegiances are going to change.
It’s all part of the process of going native, I’m quite looking forward to it!

Pollyanna, what's to be done! I've married an Aussie as well, but that doens't mean I have to become one.
Come on think about all the good things in the UK, be proud to be a Brit overseas. How bad are you going to feel in October when England win the rugby world cup in Australia, will you still support the Aussies then.
Come on you know it makes sense.

was in the 'walkabout' bar in Islington a month ago and NRL came on - Newcastle were playing Cronulla ..I was seriously homesick and went in to a kind of stupor watching it..great seeing the sun shine on a winter sport, eh!..
When the Rugby World Cup is on I will support England not for the country - but for the team - who i have followed for years...but there will always be a place in my heart for English sport..

Can I join in even though I'm in NZ, not OZ??
My view is that I will support England when it comes to Kiwi v England stuff, but then not be too heart-broken if NZ win (if you see what I mean?!) I have always watched cricket games in NZ/Oz feeling that I'd like to join the small crowd of "away" supporters.
But if the Kiwis play anyone else - then it's Kiwi all the way!!
And I did say England.... We're off to see the All Blacks V Wales in June (Can't Wait!), and seeing as I haven't got an ounce of Welsh blood in me (I don't think?!) I shall be donning a Black sweatshirt & cheering for my adoptive country like the rest of 'em!!

Can you define what the word actually means!!!
Or is it a pm sort of thing?????
Do you think we ought to change our name by deed poll

If so you and your children will definitely be tormented. I'd change it by deed poll once you get here. It might get your application to the top of the pile whilst the DIMIA officials pass it around laughing.
Root means shag over here. & I'm not talking tobacco

Re: Who's rooting for who ?
Root also means that in Britain, well it does where I come from. "I'm going to give you a rooting" - means both things shagging - but the way it is used also means a belting too.
One more thing about this nicked chant!:
The Aussie supporters who refer to the Aussie Aussie chant. This Chant was originated in Wales in the 1970's for Rugby union matches by the welsh comedian Max Boyce. Oggy Oggy Oggy oi oi oi is the original chant. Which is still used today by us Welsh at all rugby matches any Brit can tell you this by the way, and not just us Welsh.
If the Aussie fans display even a fraction of the talent of the Australian cricket and rugby teams, perhaps they may be able to invent a chat of their own, instead of nicking the welsh chant (and changing the word Oggy to Aussie - pathetic!) which we've been shouting since the 70's .
As for the world cup - I've got my money on the All Blacks, the better team by far. I'm not supporting them (I never support a winning side for the sake of it- I support my team, win or lose! - that's real sport) .
I just think they (All Blacks) will be the ones who get into the finals (Australia and N.Zealand should meet up in the semi - finals (they both can't go through to the final).
cheers

Hide back under the stone you crawled out of.

I hate this when people only support the winning team - chop and change, I know a few people like this - only support someone when they win. There's a bloke in work , he''s been here for years - aussie citizen, he's a pom from London born and bred, with Irish parents - He supports the Aussies if they win, England if they win, if they all lose - he says "I'm Irish anyway, I was supporting them" - this is not sport, I could do the same if needed, but I don't _ I support only Wales and boy are we cr*p at the moment! - but I will still be there waving my flag and singing at the world cup - win or lose - it's in the heart - this is real sport!
cheers

As for Socceroos who gives a bugger seems no one?
THE Socceroos will stay in mothballs until late August after Soccer Australia officially gave up hope of holding any friendly matches in Australia this year.
The Socceroos' next game will be against Republic of Ireland on August 20 in Dublin, with the match announced 10 days ago locked in yesterday after written contracts were exchanged.
Today Socceroos coach Frank Farina made light of the fact his first-choice side will have played only one match in 21 months by the time the Ireland clash comes around.

Just thought I'd tack my own colours to the mast:
I support 2 teams - NZ, and anyone playing Australia
