I have also noticed that they are all poms, some even use the name pom.
They also appear to be people that spend most of their time on this forum. (there is a forum for those returning to the Uk)
How can they be so offensive to the Australian people and their culture, especialy when most of their time is taken up on the computer rather than out in the big wide world?
The sort of negatives I read are unbelievable.
Just a couple of examples:-
The price of baked beans and no Heinz available. (dont eat beans)
The low cost of fuel, but a long way to travel anywhere.(stay home on the computer)
The cost to rent in North Sydney (an expensive area. so move)
The poor health service. (its no better in the Uk)
The poor wages. ( the cost of living IS lower, YES IT IS!)
The size of people. (If they are happy its up to them)
The unsociable Australians. (I wouldnt wish to socialise with whingers either)
I and many others on this site will not be put off by you whingers.
But we do get fed up with it sometimes.
THINK POSITIVE.

I try to offer advice and give information if I can, would you rather have no advice at all (please reread my comments about North Sydney and my other posts about about Sydney real estate, hardly 'unbelievable') and merely read the meandering fantasy of those yet to come here? As someone who has been there and done that I agree that PB is fairly proactive in his attempts to wind people up, but others such as Ceri, Sandra, Dotty etc write things that are absolutely nail on the head. I dont regard them as whingers at all.

As stated before I do not consider discusion as whinging.
Also I have not mentioned PB as a whinger ( you mentioned him).
You also believe this is aimed at you for some reason (perhapse you consider yourself a whinger?)

Ikea have two stores in Sydney, two in Melbourne, one in Perth and one in Brisbane. None apparently in NZ.
Don't know what the other branches are like but the Brisbane one is about half the size of UK branches with about half the range. Brisbane branch has six tills but is never packed, no queueing just to get in here.

Ignore it. Fed up reading someones posts? Add them to your ignore list. What could be easier? Look, I am interested in immigration, but I am nowhere near ready to move yet, but I have learned so much from this site. We are only going on a holiday to NZ at the moment, for some, nothing special, but the help and advice I have been given has been priceless. Yes sometimes PB and friends talk crap, but so what? They give another perspective. Why can't you see that? I cannot believe that what they post will put a single confident person off, but if it means that one person reconsiders, either for or against, then post on. Thers far more positive posts than negative anyway.
By the way, is there an Ikea in Aus or NZ? Just spent 2 hours putting a ' there's no way I'm taking that apart again wardrobe' for number 1 child. Never again!

Good thread Crabtree. I stopped coming on here because I was fed up with the put downs (I am an Aussie) that I thought were utter BS. Sure things are not all rosey, they are the same in every country and I have seen a lot worse than Australia. Couple of comments:
Baked Beans - no HEINZ, what rubbish - Heinz are one of the biggest sellers of BB.
Unsociable Aussies, what a load of cr@p. Aussies would have to be one of the most sociable lot of people that I have been involved with.
I could go on about other ridiculous comments that have been made, but I would be here forever.
Who ever made those 2 particular comments must have their heads burried in the sand (or somewhere else).
I have been to UK a couple of times (not to live, but to visit) and I must say that I find dining out and coffee shops are a lot more expensive to eat and drink at, but that goes with the territory - things are different in every country.

The Brits get paid in pounds and with the rubber dollar going up its getting cheaper everyday for holidaying Aussies to the UK.
The backyard culture does make unsociable Aussies , the good pubs here are full of Poms who know how to make small talk , thats why the Brit Pub thing is big here the Aussie style lacks warmth.
The local baked beans are not sweet enough for your Pom but the UK style is sold here now at $1.40 a can not cheap.
You should post more I find your comments good fun and interesting , good on ya girl.

Well hello PB, long time no see. I am not oversensitive, just got fed up with all the rubbish I was reading.
As I have said before, backyard BBQ's are not unsociable as there are usually a few people getting together "socialising" so how can that be unsociable??
I love going to the pub and meeting up with friends, but it was not something we did often as the cost gets out of control. Get me some CC and the rest get their beer and we have a jolly time at each others houses. Drink too much, just
over - bet people can't do that on the pub floor, they'll wake up on the sidewalk. You are okay though as you are in staggering distance to home, but not all people are and the price of a cab is ridiculous.
As for the Baked Beans, I hate them where ever they are from
Give me a can of Heinz Spaghetti any day, the stuff they sell over here is utter rubbish

Been reading this thread with interest....one thing that stands out is that the board seems to have disproportionately more negative comments than positive, simply because it's easier to moan/have a go. How many positive comments do you see on here? not many, IMO because people either can't be bothered to write them once they arrived or once they've got PR the board has served it's purpose & they don't feel the need to use it again.
Some recent NZ arrivals have made some great comments about how they were getting on & the good/bad things that have happened. A few more like these from recent aussie migrants would make the board much more balanced.
Russ.
