Choosing Perth or Bunbury would depend on whether you wanted to live in a city of about 1.5 million, or a small city/country town of about 50,000 that was about 2 hours away (but closer to the Dunsborough or Margaret River area). More info about Bunbury: http://www.southwestlife.com.au/bunbury.html. On average, buying or renting a property will be cheaper in Bunbury than in the metro area, have a look on www.reiwa.com.au or www.realestate.com.au. There would be less choices of jobs, just because it's a much smaller place than Perth. For example, there is one carer job in the aged & disability sector advertised on www.seek.com.au for the Bunbury area, but it's actually in Collie. If you put the same search in for Perth, there are 30 ads. Some jobs require aged care or other training, and your OH might have to do a course at TAFE.

There's another Bunbury thread on the go, you might want to join in there, as there are a few BE members who live in Bunbury at the moment.

Helen has pretty much hit the nail on the head. Bunbury has everything you need but not the variety of the big smoke. Its well located for down south which is great for days out.
There are quite a few surrounding areas which all offer a different flavour of living.
Regarding care work, thee is plenty of work in Perth and Bunbury. My OH manages care workers for one of the local support providers and can always find people work.
If public transport is important I cant answer so check carefully if its important. If you don't have a car/drive then Bunbury might not be for you but check.

Thankyou both for your advise im thinkin of movin to bunbury.
The reason I asked about transport was because I will not have a car straight away. The job has come round really quick so I have not been able to sort anythin out.

Depends I guess. You can only ship a vehicle you have owned for 12 months.

Hi Wayne - did you decide where to settle - Perth or Bunbury? Was just wondering if you managed to get this job while you were still in the UK, as my OH is a mechanic and he's not getting a lot of response to applications and some people have said that it could be because we're still in the UK?! Cheers, Sharon
