I wasn't talking about rain days, I was talking about rainfall. BTW, I think the averages at the moment don't reflect the current trend in Melbourne due to global warming.

I would be interested to see some actual figures from the last couple of years to see how much rain has actually fallen and how often it has rained. The dams are only at about 25% capacity.

All the averages have been done since about 1948. Lately Melbourne has hardly had any rain and I could pretty much count on both hands how often it has rained this year.

But I think it is a fairly new trend, as when we arrived we were warned by locals of dull, wet winters - still yet to see those conditions.

Oooh gosh, you've got me thinking now....
Am an accountant and originally decided Perth.
Then, after much research and contacting various agencies etc, was told there was more work in Brisbane.
So decided Brisbane.
Now I'm wondering if this is the right choice reading all these comments!
I'm going to be going in Aug/Sept, but no ties, no family to consider, just little old me.
Now then, can anyone make recommendations please?

I agree that the huge difference between average rainfall and number of dry days shows that in some states it buckets down quickly (in warm summer storms for example) as opposed to others where, on average, it is a lot slower process (cold winter rain).

Thats obviously your opinion of those places ,l wonder if you have even been to most of them, theres plenty of people who actually live in those cities that find it nothing like you described, theres also hundreds of smaller cites in OZ, Newcastle, wollongong, Cairns, TOwnsville, Surfers paradise, Ipswich, Tamworth , Dubbo ,Broken Hill, Darwin, Wagga Wagga, Bendigo, Ballarat, Warrnambool, LAunceston, Orange, Bathurst, Albany, Bunbury, Horsham ,Hamilton, Moe, Mt Gambier ,Naracoorte and hundreds of others.
Just out of interest, when did Surfers become a city? I'm sure the people of GC would love to know.

However there are plenty of people who do move to Oz having never visited.
Personally I think visiting a place before moving there is logical - although some people on here would say its a waste of money (need to save it for the visa costs, one-way flights and buying new furniture here to ship over cause you can't get furniture in oz....), and that visiting as a tourist is totally different to actually living in the place (I disagree - you don't do a reccie in 'tourist' mode....).
Plenty of people are happy to do tons of research on places and base their decision on that. Whatever works for you!

Accountant, no ties in OZ, hoping to get to Oz by end of this year/Early next year....
For some reason I have thought (most of the time) that its going to be Either Perth or Brisbane (Not that I didn't considered any other place) but whenever I think I am close to make a choice the second thoughts comes rushing in.....
....I have had plenty of these second thoughts now
