As for the rest, its a tourism ad, pics of lovely beaches are expected, but I was quite impressed with all the other bits they added to it, definitely doesn't show Australia as only being a country of beaches IMO. |

On the weekend the media reported they had spent $6 million on research into what sort of ads we should have.
In defense of the campaign they explained how they discarded focusing on intellectual things like what australia invented for the ads. Then were quoting examples like how Australia gave the world penicillin. Thankfully we spent $6 million bucks of taxpayer money  it might have been a bit embarrasing for a country to be claiming an invention made in 1928 by a pom called alexandra flemming who had never set foot in australia :D |

In 1939, Florey and Chain headed a team of British scientists, financed by a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation, whose efforts led to the successful small-scale manufacture of the drug from the liquid broth in which it grows. Florey won the nobel prize for medicine in 1945 alongside Fleming & Chain. |

Re: Where the Bl**dy Hell are you..???
The Tourist Board have come up with some slogans for a few other spots in Australia too:
Outback - Where the bloody hell are we? Nimbin - Who the bloody hell are we? Cronulla - Where the bloody hell are you from? Macquarie Fields - Come here and get bloody. Arkon's House - Why the bloody hell am I here? Paul. |
Re: Where the Bl**dy Hell are you..???
For the Byron Bay hippies - Why the bloody hell are we, man?

Re: Where the Bl**dy Hell are you..???
This is quite sad but does anyone know if you can get t shirts with "where the bloody hell are you?" on them? It would be a cracking pressie for a particular friend :D

From http://nobelprize.org/medicine/laure...lorey-bio.html Florey won the nobel prize for medicine in 1945 alongside Fleming & Chain. You would think the 6 million bucks they spent tho they could have done a little google search like you just did and found out the brits and yanks funded it and a aussie was one of the scientists working in the UK on it. Its still stretching it to make Fischers (tourism chiefs) claim Australia gave it to the world when it was yanky/brit funds, UK university, and british isles/ aussie scientists. |

It was an Aussie that invented the aeroplane and the wright brothers copied his plans, . It was an Aussie that invented the tank which allowed the allies to win WW1, an it was an Aussie that made the world first film. An Aussie invented the refridgerator.
