Default When do you have to pay shipping companies?

Do you have to pay shipping companies up front or do you pay them after they have collected so you can use house proceeds (or is it on delivery)?

We paid a deposit to secure the shipping date when we arranged for PSS to come. We have to pay the balance to them within seven days of them coming to pack, so hubbie is sorting that out as I type, as PSS came yesterday. Not sure about other companies, but should imagine it's pretty standard?

We only have to pay Allied Pickfords 7 days before packing commences.

We couldn't pay until our house sale had gone through so our solicitor wrote them a letter to say they would pay them from the proceeds of the sale. They were quite happy about this and it worked fine.

Hi, we gave Crown the cheque at the end of the last packing day. They were very thorough and I would recommend them. It was the biggest cheque I've ever written They didn't cash it for a few weeks.

We had a part container picked up in the UK in November & due to circumstances (they sent the invoice to the wrong address, Xmas etc), we didnt pay pay them until about 2 weeks ago :scared: .

We must seem like honest people though - our stuff arrives in Brisbane in 10 days time .

That certainly wouldnt be the norm though!
