ABC news just said it was 6C at tullamarine this evening but with wind chill factor felt like ZERO to minus one.

It is insanely cold, if I sit still I have to wear gloves inside the rental unit.

I imagine by 3 am I will wake up feeling like a bag of frozen peas again.

Have you considered moving somewhere warmer - like QLD?

Luckily we kept the Acerage up there. 10 days of mid 20's and a big wood burner fuelled by our own wood supply for any cold nights.

Teen is bailing out for part of the UNI holidays too.

I used to get a giggle out of the packed plane loads of melboune folk bound for their holiday homes, now I understand Off to buy a floral shirt, ralph lauren V neck, white sneakers and big sunnies for the flight

But warmer today, 14ish, bit grey but much better than yesterday.

I reckon QLD in winter would be great for weather. I'm just not so sure I would enjoy it the rest of the time.

Yeah, because for you guys it is a big improvement. Love listening to Melbournites talk about those horror stories from back in the day involving the climate...

Loads of Sydney folk here too, and they complain about the weather as well even though Sydney is heaps better than Melbourne.

As for myself, I moved down here after living just 85 miles north of the equator. So of course it's going to be cold!

If you check the map you'll see that QLD is quite a big place. And the Gold Coast starts out from the NSW border if the letters Q-L-D frighten you so much.

Heck, come to think of it the Gold Coast is closer to Melbourne than to Cairns. Scary thought this...

Weekend started well, 16, sunny spells too. It felt warm after some of the recent weather. Lovely.

Then the winds came back. 85klm hour apparently and a feels like of -1 again according to the news at tullamarine, this morning I assume. Neighbours fully loaded washing prop took off down driveway, it totally upended the entire thing Gale warning, now with winds up to 100klm hour for tomorrow, so it wont be feeling like the 16 that is predicted.

Discovered UNI QLO in the city super heat tech leggings and turtle necks So warm, can highly recommend.

One of the coldest starts to winter for years though.

Gardens doing really well with all the rain etc, heaps of supposed annuals are going to go right through. Best growing season ever. My Buffalo grass is looking far far better than usual at this time of year.

Very happy with the Melbourne weather at present. I may even be able to take some Gracilis slender weaver cuttings (bamboo) later this year, if they strike (work) they are worth at least 20 bucks each (33 bucks retail) .... I've got 100's of them potentially. So keep the rain up is my plea to the weather gods, that also keeps the frost away

All the rain? It's been way below average the last few months!

Very warm in Surfers today, wearing a short sleeve and still feeling hot. Air-con running in the car too.

But my iPhone doesn't leave me in an optimistic mood looking at the week ahead. Should some of us band together and start building an ark before it's too late?

If your iphone is predicting THAT much rain I suggest you get a new one
