Don't know if this my "most", but how about affordable second-hand sports cars. All are really rather overpriced in Oz, plus that 15-year import restriction is just set up to protect the existing importers. I guess if they hold their value, then that might offset the higher price to some extent.

I expect to miss Radio 3 as I like classical music.

Well - not left yet, but have heard my parents list of things that they miss and managed to sort some of 'em out.

Radio: use the superb BBC Internet radio tuner. I wired my dad's PC up to his hi-fi at the other end of the house and they now sit and listen to Terry Wogan in the evenings instead of Inspector Rex. Sound quality is normally excellent.

TV: UK Nova. Know it, love it. All the soaps, docu's and whatever else you fancy in easily downloadable 120Mb packages.

Yorkshire Teabags. Found a shop in Sydney that stocked them.

However, occasionally, I just want to hang onto a book. I don't understand why they are so expensive here. I understand that they have GST here and 0 VAT in the UK, but they are much more than 10% more expensive. Why? With modern printing technology, it can be done locally and small runs need not be much more expensive (per book) than large runs.

If the govt want to get kids reading again, why not make the books cheaper?

Rant over. Apart from that everything else is apples.

I'm going to miss the snow. Not that we have it often down here in the SW, but I do love it.

In that case, you may well appreciate the Au Classic FM, which IMO is 1000% better than the UK version, with no ads, just loads of great music and knowledgeable presenters. ABC Radio National also has some good music programmes: my personal fave is the whole hour of classic opera performances on Sat afternoons ('Singers of Renown', it's called - pure bliss).

And there's always good old BBC R3 over broadband, too!

Cheers
Anya.

Doesn't the delivery make them as expensive as buying the books here?

I've not used amazon.co.uk since I left the UK, but I'd imagine the delivery would again be expensive.
