Re: What type of washer do u have in OZ?
Used a toploader for 3 months in the apartment.
Now in a rental and bought a front loader. I wonder why ? |
Re: What type of washer do u have in OZ?
We bought a new frontloader here, runs as sweet as a nut, 4.5 A's so we also got a rebate from Gold Coast Council for being good little water savers.
The only thing I would say against front loaders is the virtual lack of choice in detergent (basically there just a couple of front loader formulations), still, it makes it easy to buy (no more standing in Asda staring at the multitude of different detergents wondering which one to get). Have you ever wondered why so many Aussies wear singlets? I reckon its because the top loaders ripped the sleeves off their shirts! I thought it was also worth adding what made my wife (Aussie and FORMER top loader fan) decide that front loaders were so much better. I used to do all of our own car maintenance in the UK, and several hours under a leaky engine tends to make you jeans, T shirt, coat etc etc very black and oily. The first time my wife saw that, she decided the oiled clothing were goners. However, I showed her that if you just take a front loader liquid detergent, rub it into the oil stains and bung it into the front loading machine, hey presto, all oil stains are completely removed! |
Re: What type of washer do u have in OZ?
We started life with my other halfs old toploader but I soon ended its life!!! :D
Now we have a nice new whirlpool front loader that seems to be doing the job well at the moment (touch wood) also has a nice 35 minute rapid program if you only have a short length of time. TT

My Hubby is a mechanic and I have been faced with very similarly oily clothes on a daily basis... Perhaps I have some super duper magical top loader....but I get all the oily stains out of his clothes....using cold water!! |
Re: What type of washer do u have in OZ?
We brought our frontloader from the uk.
It was very cheap(~150quid) and basic, and has served us well for 6-7 years. Our first unit didn't have plumbing for wash machines, but there were shared facitilities in the building - 2 toploaders for 14 units. We are so glad now to be using our own machine. |
