Default what type of snake ?

Anybody got an idea which type of snake this is ? I have tried googling, but I can only assume it "might" be a tiger, but doesnt seem quite the right colour & rings.

Anybody ?

The wife saw it last week while camping (just outside the showers )

Nah not a Tiger, most site only seem to show the nasty ones so I assume it's harmless.

Have you got a reptile park or anything near you?

We saw a snake once and showed the photo to the snake handler at Manly Aquarium & they told us what it was.

I have a ID book and this is the ID for a tiger snake:

Large snake with broad, strong body. Upper surface brown, brown green or blackish with pale bands. Underside Cream, Yellow or grey. Found mostly by damp, cool habitats etc.

My OH has said, that the colours/markings/rings etc vary from region to region so a picture on Google may be different from your picture. You should go from mostly the head shape.

That's definately a tiger Notechis scutatus

Great snake to look at and photograph from a distance, make no attempt to remove/pickup. Highly venomous but also highly fascinating. Count yourself lucky to see them, we don't get them up here

OK, snake experts, can you tell me what type this is? Snapped it in late August in south Queensland. Was taking a photo of a waterfall, looked over the ledge and saw it, curled up in the sun not 4ft from our feet

I think that is a red bellied black snake. But I'm no snake expert or anything. Often the red underside looks grey/slight pink.

here's a pic. By the way, it is very dangerous, like the tiger snake.

That is a red bellied black, not that aggressive & more likely to take flight than try & attack. We've got a few on our block & as they feed on other snakes as well as small mammals we don't disturb them.
Since they took up residence in stack of tree stumps we've hardly seen a brown snake around the place.
