What do you want to do in Aus?
I mean after your settled & got house, school, car etc sorted. Is there anything you secretly look forward to when you come to Australia.
I had two things, both which were sporting. ( sorry girls) But coming from a little village in the Borders of Scotland I really wanted to see the Formula 1 racing which Ive done & still want to see a Wallabies V All blacks rugby international.
So what are you looking forward to or already achieved???

We are hoping to get to Sydney in late Feb next year, and are seriously considering a jaunt down to Melbourne in March for the GP. The money from the sale of the house will be burning a hole in our pockets!
I also cant wait to make up ficticious Neighbours story lines for all my mates back home who will no doubt ask whats going on

I'm going to take the missus the Moto GP at Philip Island. And then I would like to do some touring around Oz on a bike with her.

Too many to put them all down but one of mine was swimmimg with Dolphins - done courtsey of Sea World last month, although it was more of a paddle.
Steve's is the seeing the World Motorbike Racing at Phillip Island, roll on next April (Just missed it this year as had no time having been in the country only a couple of weeks)
Travelling is also on high on the list and we are getting there, visited Darwin recently and saw the saltwater crocs on the adelaide river - very interesting place and very hot!

Re: What do you want to do in Aus?
My dream was to own a house as apposed to a flat. And a backyard. That was No.1.
I ended up getting much more than even that! I didn't bargain on getting a village and a community as well - I was prepared to have move along way from the city but in Melbourne you can get the best of both worlds.
In some ways my dream was to make life 'easier' and less 'hassle'. Get away from the 9-5 on to something else.
Of course, I still do the 9-5 but the fringe benefits and outside 9-5 are better - in fact so much better I don't think I could achieve the same in the UK for many years to come. This makes the 9-5 well worthwhile and I am still young. However I calculate it, I am ahead here - but then we were starting out, not established like many of you were.
I'd like to get financially secure in the next 10 years so that I can downsize once more - and get a local job and still get by - might of course take 2 salaries - I would love to retrain as a tradie working locally, or as a medical specialist etc. It is not my intention to be rich or to get a better job to pay for more stuff - right now I have a chance of breaking the wage spiral - this is what causes unhappiness and I am not going to go out and get a better job just so that we can have more which is the mistakes most people make I think.
Dreams: owning a hobby farm, keeping my 14 year old ute going for as long as I can, doing a course in metrology, conservation or forestry...getting a cheap boat and trailer, becoming a lieutenant in the fire brigade, having healthy children - we have one on the way.(seeing my boy - if I have one - playing rep footy lol. Taking the kids around Australia like our friends did.

1/ We wanted to never have to travel for work ever ever again.
2/ We wanted to never have to move house again till we retire.
I think we've achieved #1 so far , but are failing #2 very soon...
