What to do Now?
Well, i've just had the most terrible news. The Hospital that i am due to start work with as a registered Nurse in theatres has financial problems so no job!! ( the holy spirit in Brisbane)I have a 457 visa for this employment and was about to book flights. Now what do i do? Any advice would be great.

Am assuming this is a private hospital?
Can you try approaching some of the public hospitals?
So sorry, what a terrible position to be in.
Perhaps the immigration forum may be a better place for your enquiry also as you may get some advice from migration agents.
Good luck

My advice is apply for Permanent Residency, I think the govt. may have put a temporary freeze on apps for a few months but this country will always want nurses. With a PR you can work for whoever you like, wherever you like and your employer won't have you over a barrel like they do if you are on a 457.

The reason people such as myself go for 457 instead of directly to PR is time. A 457 can be obtained in about a month from start to finish. So if you are offered a job, by the time you have worked your notice period you are entitled to come to Oz
