NZIS award the following points:
Age (years) Points
18 - 24 8
25 - 29 10
30 - 34 8
35 - 39 6
40 - 44 4
45 - 49 2
50 - 55 0
I personally feel that too much emphasis given to youth, for example how can a 18-24 offer more than a 35-39? The experience of having lived a bit and the fact you've probably got more money to bring(sell of UK assets) are surely more important

Most on this forum seem far older - mid 30s - late 30s.
Youth has it's benefits- no nippers to relocate - no concerns with schools..i can just turn up with all the cash from my flat. (not enough to buy outright) if i can't find a job - i will just be a backpacker!!
but it's true to an extent that perhaps you don't become the asset you could be to Australia until you are say mid 30s. (by then you've had a chance to make money on your house etc, well in to your profession etc)

Re: What is the average age of a migrant?
I am 29 at the moment but will be 30 when I apply next year.
Will have had a great 30 years in England.
But me and my Aussie girlfriend have decided to carry on our life together in Australia.
Hope the next 30 in Oz are as good as the first 30.

Thats a good point.
I'm 30 this year and do not have assets like a house etc. which kind of bothered me for a while, especially when you read about slightly older applicants selling up and going over with something to offer and in the back pocket. I realise I don't have this because i've spent to much time travellling around.
I guess all I can offer is my youth and skills - sounds good to me.
