Default Welding inspectors

Hi could anyone give me anymore information. My partner is a sheet metal, welder fabricator and has started a course 3.1 welding inspector. Are there a lot of jobs for the inspector side in Perth?
Thankyou

You could look at job sites www.seek.com.au to start. Although Perth is not exactly bursting with jobs right now. .

If he's just started yhe course what visa are you coming on? You said previously that he was the main applicant.

Perth would be a disaster for your husband's skillset at the present time

This will change in future but at the moment it would be best to avoid WA (and Qld too)

Hi yes we would be coming over on a 189 Visa so we are permanent residents. He's already a qualified sheet metal worker and welder fabricator which is on the SOL list. Thankyou for your replys. It's going to take a while to come over because of selling our house and everything so hopefully the job market will be looking better by then.

Depends what you mean by awhile, the down turn has only just started really in Perth, can't see the situation getting better for few years yet as the mining boom is over and everyone returning to their original areas, especially tradies, with already existing contacts. You might get lucky but I would save up for a long haul to find a job.

CSWIP 3.1 is like the entry-level welding inspection qualification.

Without local contacts or experience, I imagine it would be very very difficult to get one's foot in the door. Most of those jobs are filled from way back.

Many qualified welding inspectors I knew in Perth have since gone to Malaysia / Thailand / Vietnam / Indo to find work in that field.
