my mum-in-law sent me a daffodil bulb through the post a couple of years ago - daft sod..lol

It was nabbed by customs, I had a letter saying I could either pay for it to be sent back to the sender, or ignore this letter and it will be destroyed.. I ignored the letter - and then went into moaning as they murdered my flower..lol ( it would not have grown here in Brisbane anyway.. I don't know what mum-in-law was thinking sending that..lol)

Curry sauce on fish and chips!! Noooo, its just wrong. The age old dispute. Its right up there with Haddock or Cod!

Now these are the big issues that face us all.

I don't put the curry on my chips.. I put it on the side of the plate and dip my chips in it..lol Now hubby puts his on his fish and chips.. I find that too soggy.

Actually I still find it so odd that most chip shops don't have vinegar here. And lemon with everything.. yuck

Yeah I bought some the other day (vinegar). I'm gonna start taking it everywhere I go. Stubby holder and vinegar in the glove box! Now we're getting useful pal!

So true. The house I now live in, used to have three other people (just two now) and about 354 different types of condiments, yet not one bottle of vinegar?!? (that soon changed mind )

I bought a bottle of vinegar the first week I was here, cos The Bloke had none, and he accused me of trying to poison him! Said if he put it on his food he would die.....more Queensland mumbo-jumbo! :scared:

Go into Kmart - camping section, they sell packets of little plastic bottles with a squirty top ( ranging from about 4inch in size, so are small enough to put in you bag and fill with vinegar).. I never leave home without mine..lol

You can tell a brit a mile off..lol.

Actually I had a lady eyeing up vinegar bottle the other month, on another table.. must have been a brit.. bet she though ooh I must get one of those. Or she could have been an Australian thinking I was a weird Brit

My wife got some chips (or, of course 'hot' chips as we should say) once and asked for vinegar. She was suprised to be given some in a small plastic lidded tub, like she was going to dip them in.

And as for chicken salt...well actually I quite like that.

Your old man is a weird Queenslander then. They've been putting vinegar on chips as long I can remember in Queensland, if you ask for it.

since when? I'm the only one in work ( besides the other two brits) who puts vinegar on chips. None of my aussie friends use vinegar either on chips. Most Aussies that I know here don't put vinegar on chips. The only place I know of where they have vinegar on the counter is actually a Chinese run fish shop near to the works . And if you ask for vinegar in my local pub and eatery places when you have a meal.. yes they will give you some.. but in a small saucer like dish designed for dips such as ketchup, or mayonnaise. Chip shops - I've asked in a few of them, and most ( except local chinese one) have no vinegar. I can't be looking hard enough for the "in" places.

Gryff, I hope to god that the small block is about a kilogram then, cos I buy it for $24.99/kg in Coles. Red Leicester as well. :scared:

Since always. If you ask for vinegar on your chips, you'll get it. You have to ask for it. You probably aren't looking hard enough.
